Another soldier goes gunning! ‘Guest caught inside spouse’s house’

Just days after a Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier shot and injured a policeman who he caught in a compromising position with his wife on arriving home in Greater Portmore,

St Catherine, another local army man has reportedly had similar experience with almost the same consequence.

The soldier reportedly discharged his licensed firearm upon discovering an uninvited ‘guest’ inside his spouse’s house, but luckily no one was injured.

The latest incident happened on Saturday night when the soldier visited his spouse’s home at Eltham Vista in the old capital of Spanish Town in St Catherine, and reportedly accused her of infidelity.

The police reported that the soldier discovered that a man was inside the premises, and an argument developed between the two males.

The woman then reportedly went to the back of the house, opened the lock on a grille, and let the man out for him to make his escape before coming to any harm.

But the soldier was quick on his feet, and was on spot to discharge one round from his licensed Glock 9mm pistol.

The frightened man reportedly jumped a perimeter wall and scampered away to safety.

The police were summoned and the soldier, who is assigned to the Third Jamaica Regiment (3JR), was questioned and his firearm seized for ballistic testing.

Just last week a policeman was gun-butted and shot in the shoulder after being caught in bed with the wife of another army man at the soldier’s home in Greater Portmore, also in St Catherine.

The policeman fled from the house minus his clothing and his service pistol, and is now recuperating from his injury.

The woman in that incident is also reported to be a member of the constabulary.
